NOTICE:  The following schedule of statutory filing fees and court costs may be relied upon generally for calculation of amounts that must be paid as a prerequisite to filing instruments or obtaining services from the Clerk's Office.  However, to ascertain how much the fees are for specific transactions, you may call the office at (706) 291-5150.

CIVIL CASES

General Civil -- $207.00, plus applicable service fees. ALL cases except: 1) family violence; 2) Incoming transfers. See below for additional sums on bond validation cases. Motions or petitions requesting an order filed 30 or more days after judgment or dismissal require a new action filing cost. Sheriff's service fees: $50.00 Family Violence Petitions. No filing fee or sheriff's service fees.
Incoming Transfer -- from another superior court $50.00; from probate court $175.00; from magistrate court $185.00.
Motions or petitions requesting an order filed 30 or more days after judgment or dismissal require a new action filing cost -- same as filing fee for new case in superior court.
Condemnation and Validation of Bond Action -- To be collected at conclusion of action in addition to General Civil Costs above:
Per Bond up to 500 bonds -- $1.00.
over 500 bonds -- $.50.
Per page for recording -- $1.50.
Subpoena -- $5.00.
Issuing Execution -- $.00.

PUBLICATION COSTS -- STANDARD NOTICE / SUBJECT TO ROME NEWS FEES

Adoption -- $60.00.
Divorce and Name Change -- $80.00.
Trade Name -- $40.00.

APPEALS TO SUPREME COURT AND/OR COURT OF APPEALS

Preparation of Record, per page -- $1.00.
Transcript Filing and Submission, per transcript -- $1.00.
Copying Transcript Where Required, per page -- $1.00.
Preparation of Transcript When Clerk Not Required to Recopy -- $35.00.
Entering Remittitur -- $0.00.
Per Seal and Certification (in addition to all other costs) -- $2.00
Per Copy Served, General -- $50.00.
Action from Another County --$50.00.
 

RECORDING COSTS -- DEEDS AND REAL ESTATE

Deeds -- $10.00 first page, $2.00 each additional page. 
Materialmen Liens -- $ 5.00 first page, $2.00 each additional page.
Cancellation of Security Deed -- $10.00 for first page of each security deed to be cancelled and $2.00 each additional page, plus $2.00 per deed cancelled for cross-referencing/indexing
Cancellation of Liens -- $ 5.00 first page, $2.00 each additional page, plus $2.00 per cancellation for cross-referencing/indexing.
Assignments of Security Deeds -- Per Deed Assigned -- $5.00, plus $2.00 for cross-referencing/indexing.
Other Recording on Deed Record -- $10.00 first page, $2.00 each additional page, plus $2.00 per instrument if cross-referencing/indexing required.
Plats, Maps and Condominium Floor plans -- $ 8.00 per page.

**Effective July 1, 2008, Act. No. 429 (House Bill 1018) requires payment of a $2.00 per entry cross-referencing fee when the clerk of superior court is required to cross-reference or cross-notate any instrument that is "to be cross-indexed, cancelled, satisfied, or released or when a party requests the clerk to cross-index an instrument that is not otherwise required by law to be cross-indexed to any other previously recorded or affected document). Lis Pendens, Cancellation, or Release -- $5.00 first page, $2.00 each additional page, plus $2.00 per lis pendens for cross-referencing/indexing.

Bar Admission Documents -- No fee for filing.
All Other Recording -- $5.00 first page, $2.00 each additional page.

NOTARY PUBLIC

Issuance of New Certificate -- $37.00.
Renewal -- $37.00.
Certificate of Authority -- $2.00.

*Fees for notary public applications were reduced from $162 to $37 effective March 16, 2011 as the result of enactment of HB 41.

TRADE NAME REGISTRATION
